Murray extends his Brisbane record to 10-0

Sir Andy Murray is off to a flying start in 2019 as the former world number one seeks to return to his previous form. The Scotsman took the won his first round Brisbane International clash, defeating Australian James Duckworth 6-3, 6-4.

The Australian wildcard lost his serve in the sixth game of the first set but fought back, breaking Murray in the seventh. However the two-time Wimbledon champion returned fire to break back in the eighth game before serving out the set. Duckworth, ranked at 234, kept up the pressure on Murray in the second set, forcing his 31-year-old opponent to fight back from four break points in the second game. Murray held on and eventually won the second set 6-4, with the entire match lasting less than 90 minutes.
