Saunders, who has faced criticism during her five years as head of CPS, will not seek to renew contract
The director of public prosecutions, Alison Saunders, is quitting when her five-year contract finishes at the end of this year, it was confirmed on Sunday.
Saunders, who has faced repeated criticism during her time as head of the Crown Prosecution Service, did not seek an extension of her contract and will leave to take up a post with a private law firm.
